Dougal’s Cottage is a dog – friendly cosy former Cornish Tin Miner’s cottage situated in the thriving coastal village of Pendeen within this stunning unspoilt area rich in Heritage which was chosen for the filming of the Poldark tv series. The two storey cottage is tastefully furnished with a mix of Antique and Contemporary furniture and attractive decorative items The cottage sleeps three people and there are two bedrooms next to each other . The double bedroom at the rear of the property has wonderful uninterrupted sea views and the single bedroom at the front of the property also has space for a travel cot . The cottage has excellent Wifi .
The sitting room boasts the original Inglenook fireplace now with a free standing wood burner in the middle. Guests can also enjoy our new Panasonic flatscreen tv with free view and many extras including a Netflix button . Philips I Pod Dock, selection of books and a few board games.
The well equipped eat- in kitchen has double doors opening onto the patio section of the long grassed garden at the end of which is a traditional stone wall a field and the Atlantic Ocean!
The all white full bathroom offers basin , lavatory , a bath with hand rails and a wall mounted shower which can also be used as a hand held shower. The bathroom is on the ground floor.
The cottage has a Bosch Washer / Dryer
The coastal path runs through the village of Pendeen and there are two sandy beaches that are accessible in the village known as Boat Cove and Portheras Beach . There are wonderful walks from the doorstep for you and your four legged friend/s to enjoy.The village itself has a shop, post office, church, pottery shop, Doctor’s surgery, two good traditional pubs, a tapas restaurant, fish and chips shop,and a fortnightly Farmer’s market .
Dougal’s Cottage is well positioned to explore other areas of Cornwall if guests wish . We are within 15 minutes drive of Penzance, Moushole, Newlyn,Lamorna ,St Just and approximately 40 minutes from St Ives considered on the of most spectacular scenic drives in Europe taking the coastal road from the village of Pendeen.
The cathedral city of Truro is approximately 45 minutes away.
There is much to do and see in the area with National Trust properties and gardens, art galleries galore, freshly caught fish , good pubs , cafes and restaurants , days out for the family etc.
We accept up to two small or medium well behaved dogs at no extra charge on condition that your dogs do not go upstairs and sleep in the kitchen – two fixed stair gates in situ
